Ocean Dunes Resort is a well-established community of 196 homes, built in the early 1980s.
Located in historic Fort Fisher in the town of Kure Beach, Ocean Dunes Resort is tucked into the southern most tip of Pleasure island, a coastal barrier island ending at the mouth of the Cape Fear River.
South of the city of Wilmington and larger beaches, Wrightsville and Carolina, Kure Beach is close enough for easy access to all, while keeping its small beach town charm.
As Ocean Dunes people will attest, it’s hard to leave the resort. With the Atlantic Ocean literally at our doorstep and amazing places of interest and enjoyment so close, a bike ride, a walk, or a short car trip produce all sorts of places of interest and discovery. What makes Ocean Dunes special? Location, location, location:
Ocean Dunes has the majesty of the Atlantic Ocean in its front yard. As the old saw says, “They aren’t making more of that.” But it doesn’t stop there!
The Ocean Dunes resort property has three outdoor swimming pools, one indoor pool, a fitness center, gazebos to relax in and watch the sunrise, bbq grills, basketball, tennis, and shuffleboard courts
On our beach is the only coquina outcrop on the North Carolina coast. The mounds of clumped shells have hardened over the centuries, forming one of the most outstounding sights on any beach. “The Rocks,” as they are lovingly referred to, are truly breathtaking, as witnessed by the flow of professional photographers as well as every beachcomber with a phone camera.
Adjacent to The Rocks is the Fort Fisher State Recreation area, a pleasant walk down the shore at low tide.
